I believe this race is being run by OBRA. The last I heard they were trying a new plan this year. $125 per day entry fee, run all the classes you want or can.

That  is  correct .  Since  it  became a  hard  fact  that  sponsors were not  willing  to  spend  the  money  this year  and  it  looked  like  the OBRA  was  only  going  to  have  one race ,  we  are  trying  something  new.  The  $125  is  a  base  entry  fee ,  figured  on  the  hope  that  we  have  at  least  10  drivers.  This  will  pay  for  the  race  without  a  sponsor.  I believe  Butch  will  adjust  the  entry  fee  if  more  than  10  drivers enter.  The  OBRA  is  trying  this  as  to  save  this  season  and  give  us  races  to  go  to.  If  you  fig  the  amount  of  money  you  spend  in  gas  to  go  to  far  away  races ,  the  $125  entry  fee does  not  seem  too bad .  It  is just  a  new  idea to  provide  a  race  w/o  a  sponsor.   The  success  of  this  really  depends  on  the  number  of  drivers that  show  up.

Sorry ,  do  not  know  any  motel/hotel info   -  but  here are  the  directions:

"Take  Hwy #71 south out  of  Fort Smith, Ark. to Mansfield, Ark.

Turn right  on Hwy #96 and  go  through  town

Just outside  of  town , go  left  on Hwy #378 and  go 2 miles

to Scout Co. /Sabastian Co.  line - (there  will be a big "SPUR LAKE" sign)

at  the  sign  - turn right and  go  1/2 miles  to  the lake."

There are many hotels in Ft. Smith/Van Buren area- 20+ miles away. They seem to be filling up fast, must be something going on there that weekend. Looking forward to this race and seeing everyone again!
