I have two gas stations that sell fuel that does not have alcohol.  This is not the case as you go to the corn belt and other areas that we race.  The fuel of the day is often used at normal races, not championship event.  It requires someone to buy a gallon of gas at the local station and test it.  Ususally you add twenty to thirty points to the reading for the oil.  That been said, I would be in favor of keeping the reading around 150.  Our gas usually runs less than a 100 and we don't see much performance in the alcohol, be it methanol(We have not tried methanol , but have been told it does not help any more than ethanol) or ethanol.  At the APBA nationals, you must read below 100.  I use some airplane fuel, in our oMC's, because of the high compression.  Yamatos are not picky and will run just fine on 87.

In the APBA rule book on fuel it states at championships races the fuel tested has to be zero or under (Doc I don't know where you got the 100).  At local races they can have fuel of the day if they want.

I think in our races you should be able to run ethanol or straight gas but you need to declare which gas you are using. If straight gas the reading should be like it always was not higher than +50 . If you are running ethanol blend and say the upper limit is 125 you should be tested for ethanol also.  Just one test with the digitron doesn't work with straight gas, if you read 125 and you don't have ethanol then you have added some additive which is not legal.

My dad is mistaken on the APBA rule.  You have to read in the Negative at Championship races and unless they declare a fuel of the day rule.

I also agree with Larry on his suggestion for the NBRA rule.

I got a little confused, thinking a reading of 100 was 0...just a missed place one...Larry sounds like you got it figuared out..I am infavor of allowing fuel of the day, which is the local station plus some for oil...

Ok I think the next step is to run this past the tech committee then to the board and get it in writing so we can have something to fall back on.
