NATIONAL BOAT RACING ASSOCIATION

With the price of gas I think we need to think about using all of our prize money for tow money.  We need boats to have a race and a poor turn out doesn't do us or our sponsors any good. If you have a race team that is sitting on the fence deciding to go or not this might be the deciding factor. The APBA Winter National had a very poor showing of boats. Part of it was a last minute race site change but I bet a lot had to do with travel expense.

Think about it.

I feel this is the wise thing to do. Traveling expenses are going to be tough for the average racer this summer! Art K

It's up to the race director for each race how the prize money will be paid out. I have made the decision that all $3,500 for Rockaway Beach will be paid as tow money. I am also working on getting us a test day for Friday as well. I should know something soon.

I think that paying out tow money instead of prize money is a very good idea.

Alan I think it would be a good idea to run it by the ODA officers. The club has always had a hand in deciding paying out of prize money. I don't think you would have any problems with your recommendation.
