Well the time has passed for getting the ballot  mailed back and there was never a decision on what to do about voting on something that was not suposed to be on it in the first place. I am not going to vote on something that is not right so I'll just put mine in the waste paper basket. I can't belive something that simple could could be that screw up. Somebody needs to take care of business.

All,

After much confusion and research back into National Meeting notes and tape recordings of the proceedings, a ballot containing everything discussed, seconded and voted upon in the meeting is on its way to the commissioners for their approval (as per the rulebook). If that ballot is approved by the commissioners, it will be sent back out to the general membership for voting. From there it stands or it falls on the final count of ballots returned.

This confusion arose out of honest mistakes in note taking, and in my conducting business essentially on the spur of the moment after assuming the presidency. I apologize for my part in this, and Jason Sumrall and I are working on a written outline to follow through meetings based on the rule book to prevent this kind of thing happening in the future.

Once the commissioners have their say on the reworked ballot proposal, I hope all of you will vote on it in good conscience and, if you have problems with such things as the "cut off" / "overlap" name you'll bring it to next year's meeting. That name change was brought up through a motion and second process and approved at the general meeting, so if there is a need to make a change, it should wait until then.

I know this has been a drawn out process, but I'm not sure doing it any other way would have stayed true to what NBRA bylaws spell out, or how you really want business conducted in our organization.

Sincerely,

Dan M. Crummett

NBRA President

Thanks Dan for the update.  I think this is the right way to handle this.
