Here is the deal on Somerville Motels.
There are a couple of other things going on that weekend, 1. A Harley Rally at a different park, and a Kolachi Festival just up the road, so one motel is completely booked but, we have a block of rooms reserved at the Somerville Inn & Suites.( Don't let the name fool you, its just a motel.) its about 3 miles from the race course, and right next door to the best place for breakfast.
I was there 2 days ago and watched them putting brand new carpet in all the rooms, new paint, new beds, new towels.
I have reserved a block of rooms, all have 2 Queen size beds, and a couch that pulls out into a bed @ $59.99 per.
PLUS a special apartment deal at the same place, 2 bedrooms on 2 floors, with 2 Queen beds in each bedroom lots of room, even a kitchen. Plus, as many as you want to put on the floor or on air mattress, for $160. divided only 4 ways that's just $40. a night. Perfect for a race crew, or the entire Mathews Clan!
Anyone wishing to go "Uptown" can find an array of Inns, B&B's, new Hotels, even an antique Hotel, just down the road (12 miles) in Brenham, in my neck of the woods.
Call me if you have any questions, or if you would like me to arrange anything for you. 979 525 8030.
Somerville Inn & Suites, 979-596-1000
ONE LAST NOTE... The reservations run out on Sept. 2nd, so make your move right away.

Oh yeah, Polish and German, in this area especially. Just down the road from here is where the Texas Independence declaration was written, after getting whooped at the Alamo, the Texians came back here and gathered up, wrote their declaration and headed down East of Houston, were they found Santa Anna and kicked his ass. Then they drilled for oil.
My town Brenham, is so German that during the war, they had to pass a law to prevent speaking German in public. Basically this whole area here was cotton farms, and those Bohemians were good at that. Huge fortunes made untill the bottom fell out of the cotton market in the 30's I think. Then everyone planted grass and raised cattle.
A buddy of mine, his family was one of the original 100, that's the original 100 families that received land grants from Stephen Austin, he still has his family's old cotton gin on the place.Thousands of acres, and the Brazos River runs right through it. Every year around here they have the Cotton Gin Festival, and its a big deal to gin what they call "The First Bale." | |
