A friend of mine is a Molecular Scientist, and he has just finished a reasearch projet where he has unequivocally proven that the molecular make up of Texas lake water results in considerably less overall atomic weight of the water molecule than Lake water that is North of the Red River.
As he explains it to me, this results in much less surface cohesion, as well as much less molecular adhesion. The result being that Texas lake water is less adherant to dissimilar molecules which may come in contact.
He goes on and on, but the short story is that a boat hull in Texas lake water feels less drag from the water, resulting in less energy being required to propel that hull through the water at the same speed. Or conversely the same power to propel a hull through Yankee water (anywhere north of the Red River) will result in a hull being propelled through the water at a greater speed in Texas lake water.
Find out for yourself, September 25&26 at Lake Sommervile in Texas.

"unequivocally proven that the molecular make up of Texas lake water results in considerably less overall atomic weight of the water molecule than Lake water that is North of the Red River" Well...there goes the saying that 'everything is bigger and better in Texas!" The fella that coined that phrase was abviously not a Molecular Scientist now was he!!

Uhh... What isn't better than faster water?

True, the end result is that the water will be faster and that it a GREAT thing. What else would a fella expect? This is TEXAS !
But still I am bummed that we finally found something in Oklahoma that is bigger than it's Texas counterpart, even if it is just the atomic weight of a water molocule!

I think rather than a function of surface tension, it's more a matter of air pressure... hence the 36 in pipeline running into Texas from Oklahoma swedges down to 10 inches as it comes out of the south side of the Red River heading into Texas. The rationale being, if Texas sucks as hard as it blows, then the flow should remain constant.
You guys have done a super job of getting a race going and I'm certain the water will be very fast Sept. 11/12... whether because of air pressure or molecular valence.
Congrats!!! Proud of you!

The problem with less atomic sized water molicules is that a prop doesnt have the same push that it has against a larger size molecule, I:E colder water is faster, but you all know that in Texas the water molecules probally carry guns, hence you must go faster to get out of the way of stay bullets. LOL this is why Texas has a express lane in death row

Maybe this may be true also, Texas lakes have less crap floating in them?? OKs lakes are full of this becaues we here in AR dump ours in the Illinois river and we all know that feeds all the lakes in OK

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh come on now - texas drills for oil everywhere and everyone knows that wd-40 on the bottom of the boat makes it go faster . And Jeff , remember , as I quote you " I got the best rough water boat ever !!! " so prob makes no difference how big or small or how light or heavy the water is , we still will get to see you body flop accross the lake - oh wow - idea !!!! buy a can of WD-40 and spray your life jacket

YUP Tim and Jeff Lake watched me tumble once, they were Laughing so hard , They wanted to see it again. But Andy you do Know that in Texas I wont need to spray down with W D there is probally enough oil there, and besides, the SMALL molecules in the water will make it a softer landing, O yea Moncrease has some GREAT pics of you Andy kinda of doing the same tning I do so well, I may get him to post them here LOL

Yeah, ok...Wimpy it is I guess, it's just that picture of some Hillbilly sitting around the table at dinner, taking his teeth out, and using his fingers to "pick out" a piece of hog meat connective tissue that's been thoroughly masticated (that means chewed for you guys in Oklahoma)...it's just more than a Texan can stand...
