Results from the 2010 Ballot gives Green Light to Combine B Class
With only six issues on the ballot a larger than expected number of returns was received this year. The green light was given to all proposed six rule changes. The only controversial topic that was voted on was the change to the starting procedures in the General Racing Rules section. The lap down section in the starting procedures is now eliminated with 34 votes to remove it to 7 no votes to leave it in. Under the new ruling, if a driver crosses over the start line before the clock reaches zero, the driver is disqualifi
ed from that heat of racing.
There were three proposals on the ballot to make changes to the By-Laws and all three received approval. Removing the restriction on commercial boat and motor manufactures, and their employees to run for office was approved 41 to 0. By-Law paragraph 2b is now eliminated. The addition to By-Law paragraph 3, which insures that members of the Racing Commission are a paid member of a NBRA affiliated club by January 15th, passed with 40 yes votes to a 1 no vote. The total elimination of the paragraph requiring motor manufactures to supply engine specifications to the NBRA Technical Committee received 41 yes to eliminate to a 0 no vote.
In the General Racing Rules division, drivers must be a member of NBRA and an affiliated NBRA club. This passed with 40 yes votes to a 1 no vote.
The proposition by the Technical Committee to combine the B1 and modified 80 classes into the B class was solidly accepted. With zero no votes to 21 yes, look for exciting racing in the B class for 2010.
